The Costa del Sol stretches for about a 1.5 hour drive either side of Malaga. The whole area has been popular with tourists from Europe and across the world for over 40 years, mainly due to the Costa’s miles of beautiful sandy beaches and balmy climate boasting the best weather in Europe. The Aztec Country Club is located in the heart of the Costa del Sol just 750m from the Mediterranean coast and is benefiting from many of the new infrastructure improvements currently taking place in the region. Malaga Airport is the fourth busiest airport in Spain, handling 13.6m passengers in 2007. Flights to the airport are available from over 120 airports around the world with direct links added to New York. The new Costa del Sol motorway was opened earlier this decade and provides easy access from Malaga through Benalmadena, Marbella, Estepona and beyond to Gibraltar. The Aztec Country Club is located just 5 minutes from one of the motorway’s junctions allowing it easy and fast access to Málaga airport as well as all tourist attractions that the coast has to offer. The Madrid-Malaga high speed AVE train was introduced at the end of 2007. The train reaches speeds of up to 350km/hr and cuts down the traveling time between the two cities to just 2.5 hours (a massive time saver compared to traveling by road). And with fares starting at €30 it is estimated that by 2009 two million people will be utilising this service. The AVE link is likely to increase the frequency of Spaniards visiting and holidaying in Southern Spain, with it’s effect on increasing tourist expenditure on the coast. Construction of a new train line extension is planned between Fuengirola and Marbella for 2011. A train station has been penciled in for Calahonda, less than 2km’s from the Aztec Country Club. |
